Surgery is over

Getting ready for surgery

The tonsills!

Resting comfortably after surgery.
Ben's surgery went well yeaterday. The Dr said his tonsills were mush and filled with pus so it was really good to get them out. The adnoids were also really swollen, hopefully now he can breath a lot better. The ear tubes went smoothly with no problems.

He had a hard time yeaterday and was really sore, he needed his meds evry 3 hours or so and it was hard to get him to wait till the 4 hours were up. He was like a drool monster, and continually drooling out of the right side of his mouth (I think it was because he is still weak there from when he severed the nerve earlier this year).

We were supposed to stay overnight, but by 8 oclock they had turned down his IV so low that it wan't doing hardly anything. We decided just to come home since we could give him the same meds at home and hopefully he (and I) would be more comfortable.

He had a horriable night. He was up crying and screaming all night. He woke up Wes (he was sleeping in the spare room since he had to go to work early today), and we had struggles all night to get the meds in and not have him spit them out.

This morning he is a lot better, he has been drinking and eating (probably things he shouldn't like fruit snacks and red vines) and of course he is watching little einsteins.

I certainly have a new appreciation for my Mom, all those times she sat waiting for me to have surgery (15 knee surgeries), the waiting sure is the hardest part. It is so hard to see your little one in pain and not be able to do anything to make him feel better.

I hope that he every day is a forward step form now on! Here is to a infection free winter.
